Religion is important because...

While many debate whether religion is a good thing or not, for many people religion is a way of coping with life and living it in a positive manner to the best of their ability. Historically speaking, religion has been the cause of many wars, murders, invasions and social unrest over the years, but at the same time religion has created many benefits to society.
The legal system
Many aspects of the legal system we know today are based on religious teachings. Religion tells us that killing people is a sin, as well as stealing. It is these ideals that the law aims to duplicate and enforce to ensure we have a pleasant experience in life. Society needs these rules and laws in order to function properly. While we may not agree with all of the laws, the legal system allows us to feel safer in our day to lives.
The afterlife
Many people look to their religion for comfort in times of grief, such as the death of a close friend or family member. Human beings as a whole are afraid of death because they have no way of knowing for sure what happens after they die. Many religions or belief systems cover this topic in detail and the follower of that particular religion can therefore find comfort in their belief that their religion is correct. While many people are born into religion, many others convert to a religion of their choice, mostly based on their own beliefs and which aspects feel the most comfortable to them. It can be a great help for many people suffering from grief to believe in their religious views on the matter and therefore cope with the situation more effectively.
Other big questions
Aside from the afterlife, there are a variety of other big questions in life that may never be answered. Some of these include “why should I lead a good life”, “where do we come from” or “what is the meaning of life”. Many religions try to answer these questions in a generalized way to try to fill in the information that are missing. The human brain may never know the true answers to these questions, but as a species we need to believe that the answers exist. This is where religion can provide stability and reassurance by helping to answer some of these big questions.
Our current political structure
Whichever country you reside in, the political structure of that country has at some point been altered or determined by religious views. In America, the first pilgrims to settle on America did so because their religious views were not accepted in other countries at that time. In England, the standpoint on divorce changed dramatically thanks to King Henry VIII and the disassociation of England from the Roman Pope creating today’s “Church of England” denomination of Christianity. Sometimes these changes were for the worse but they have all helped to shape the countries we know today, and that’s why religion is highly important in that regard.

Why study Accounting

For those who don't know, Accounting is the language of business and is needed now more than ever before.  It is the backbone of all businesses and therefore is a very broad subject.  Today, there are more CEOs with degrees in accounting than any other area of study.  College students that are unsure which area of business they would like to study should seriously consider accounting.  Career opportunities associated with a degree in accounting are practically endless due to how broad the subject is.  Job opportunities include public accounting, government, private industry and forensic accounting.  There are also opportunities in tax preparation, cost management and even jobs with the FBI.  Accounting opportunities are not limited to the ones named above.
Another reason college students should consider studying accounting is the condition of the economy.  Due to the recession that our economy is going through, many industries are cutting down on jobs.  One area of business that is still thriving is accounting.  Various businesses are realizing how important it is to cut down on costs to make their business more profitable during this time of economic crisis.  They also realize how important it is to have strict set of internal controls to make their business more efficient.  The only way to ensure that both of these can happen is through stringent accounting.  After reading this it should be no surprise that accounting jobs may be on the rise.
According to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, 91% of accounting firms expect hiring to increase or at least remain the same.  This is great news for college graduates who are seeking a career in accounting.  So many college students have been worried that they may not have a job when they graduate due to today's economic crisis.  With a steady rise in unemployment it is comforting to see that there is still a high demand for accountants.
Job opportunities are not the only reason that college students should consider accounting.  The job can be very rewarding as well.  The average salary for accountants as of March 9, 2009 is $51,000.  This salary can change based on company, location and industry.
Internal controls are important for a business to control internal theft.  Without a good set of internal controls it would be too easy for employees to steal cash or even merchandise.  An important aspect of internal controls that is important is separation of duties.  This means that no one person performs all the jobs of a company.  This ensures that one person checks someone else's work making it difficult to fabricate accounting data to steal money from the company.  Accounting provides a basis for these controls and checks to see if they are being enforced.
With accounting frauds becoming more and more of a problem there is more of a demand for people with accounting knowledge in the FBI.  They need people who are able to decipher financial statements and pick out bad accounting form in order to uncover sophisticated accounting frauds.  Accountants are also needed during trial to provide lawyers and prosecutors with testimonial evidence.  It can be a very exciting and rewarding area of accounting.  Many accountants feel rewarded by uncovering and prosecuting those who try to profit from manipulating financial data.  With more and more accounting frauds being committed each year, there is more of a need for strict audits by accounting firms.  This means more business for accounting firms and ultimately more jobs for accountants.
If you are a college student searching for a major it would seem wise to pursue a degree in accounting.  The opportunities that this degree can provide for you may be endless.  You may find yourself working for a large accounting firm or even owning your own private, small scale CPA Firm.  You may also become a CEO or a CFO of just about any company being that accounting is the backbone of business.  It is safe to say you can't go wrong with a degree in accounting.

10 secrets to become a smart student

Tip # 1: Come prepared – preview the chapter first before going into the lecture, this is the main difference between A’s and B’s.

Tip #2: Keep the questioning mind – as you preview the chapter, come up a list of questions. Try to find answers to those questions during lectures. Also write down the questions on the instructor’s lecture as it goes.

Tip #3: Write your lecture notes after – Take brief notes during lectures and complete them soon after class when it’s still fresh in memory.

Tip #4: Rewrite the headings as questions – The questioning headings and subheadings provoke your critical thinking and deepen your understanding.

Tip #4: Make a master list of questions – Try to find answers to those questions during lectures and reading.

Tip #5: Make a master list of keywords – The understanding of key concepts and their inter-relationship will give you the true mastery of that chapter. Use flash cards for them too.

Tip #6: Sit in the front of the class – This will keep you focus better and engage more. It is what smart students do.

Tip #7: Ask questions in lecture – Don’t be afraid to raise your hand. The more you ask the smarter you get.

Tip #8: Observe the instructor for exam clues – Mark down the important concepts as hinted by your instructor. Pay attention and you will know.

Tip #9: Avoid being a lecture skipper – Don’t ever skip the lecture. This is a recipe for failure. Also don’t bother to record the lecture in tape or MP3. Knowing you are going to re-listen to the lecture gives you an excuse not to listen carefully.

Tip #10: Get noticed by your instructor - Come early and stay behind to ask questions and help out the instructor. Let him or her know your name. Take advantage of office hours. When comes to assign your grade, it really helps.

Creation Story(Hindu Belief)

In the beginning there was absolutely nothing, and what existed was covered by death and hunger. He thought, "Let me have a self", and he created the mind. As he moved about in worship, water was generated. Froth formed on the water, and the froth eventually solidifed to become earth. He rested on the earth, and from his luminence came fire. After resting, he divided himself in three parts, and one is fire, one is the sun, and one is the air.
Thus in the beginning the world was only his self, his being or essence, which then took the shape of a person. At first he was afraid, but realizing that he was alone and had nothing of which to be afraid, his fear ceased. However, he had no happiness because he was alone, and he longed for another. He grew as large as two persons embracing, and he caused his self to split into two matching parts, like two halves of a split pea, and from them arose husband and wife.
They mated, and from their union arose the human beings of the earth. The female reflected on having mated with someone of whom she was once a part, and she resolved that she should hide so that it would not happen again. She changed to a cow to disguise herself, but he changed to a bull and mated with her, and from their union cows arose. She changed to the form of a mare, but he changed to that of a stallion and mated with her, and from that union came horses. She changed to the form of a donkey, but he did likewise, and from them arose the single-hoofed animals. She became a ewe, but he became a ram, and from their union came the sheep and goats. It continued thus, with her changing form to elude him but he finding her and mating with her, until they had created all the animals that live in pairs, from humans and horses to ants.
After all this work, he reflected that he was indeed Creation personified, for he had created all this. Rubbing back and forth, he made Fire, the god of fire, from his hands, and from his semen he made Soma, the god of the moon. This was his highest creation because, although mortal himself, he had created immortal gods.
